GLASGOW SCHOOL OF ART FASHION SHOW
Sustainable Fashion Show
PART OF STACEYS FACE FILM INITIATIVE

Concerned with the continuing exploitation of resources and dedicated to community involvement, we initiated a relationship with the Textiles Program at the Glasgow School of Art. The students were given excerpts of the film script, Stacey’s Face and told that they must base their Fashion Show designs on the excerpts. What’s more they have to do so in a resource efficient manner. No dependency on new textiles produced in sweatshops that deplete the environment. What resulted was an eclectic mix of extraordinary fashion and textile that pushed the limits of textile production AND design. Those students then will work on the Stacey’s Face set designing and dressing the characters of the story.

fashion1 “Costume design is one of the most vital components of visual identity within a film setting, creating textiles that are ethical in their approach means that not only are we creating extraordinary designs in practice but also in theory; working with the next generation of textile manufacturers means that people may engage with these concepts more and be more holistic in their approach in the long term. It’s about making short term creative choices that have long term benefit”

“Kate E’s captivating and spirited approach allows students of all temperaments and abilities to develop an individual ‘voice’”
