SUMMER 2008

In October 07 Kate E. Deeming and Choreographer/Dancer Norman Douglas began an exciting collaboration via the Dance House, (the National Dance Agency for Scotland) in the performance/film experiment

BULWARK

*Bulwark* A guard that protects the ship from big waves.  Barricade of beams and soil used in 15th and 16th century fortifications designed to mount artillery.  Figuratively it means anything serving as a defense.

Exploring the metaphysics between live performance and filmed media, the lab explored themes of male identity in post-industrial communities through movement and film.

Film witnesses were invited to participate in the event, which culminated in a film performance at an old Football club in Springburn, Glasgow.  The footage is to be edited into a short film, excerpts will be available via this website shortly.

The next stage of this project will commence in the summer of 2008.  Stay tuned for more information!

Four Film Performance Films Series

43(two) is a site-specific, four film installation series.  Meant to be projected site specific in raw spaces the forgotten ‘in-between’ spaces where people and history hover precariously, each exists on a separate time code (including the music), and present a unique experience for the viewer who brings with them their own sense of time and space.  Equally the creation of the films balances the world of film art and performance film.  They are imperfect in that way therefore allowing you that much closer to the artist and experience, the craft of the film which is the ‘in-between’ space of the film itself.
