IN.DIA & TOkYO

=IN.DIA= and TOkYO

4 JANUARY 2008 – 27 APRIL 2008 28 APRIL 2008 – 6 MAY 2008

On the fourth of January I left on a journey to India.

My intention was to study the dance and the music of the area.

Specifically in how *spiritual* practice informs the physical work and

consequently how this *shamanistic* expression can be applied further to filmmaking.

I had no defininitive plan, out with my starting place and a small grant to keep me going….

The nature of the experience day by day determined my journey.Over three months I studied Kalbelia dance (roots of Flamenco) in Rajhasthan, and Odissi Dance in Orissa, in addition to numerous other musical forms on the way.  I charted these developments in my weekly blog with the Glasgow Herald, and the experience greatly influenced performance work that followed.

Once in Japan, I assessed what I have learned over the three months and created new work influenced by new cultural and social experiences…. specifically “I’m Not Sari” and (performance/dance Pink Cow) and The) Body of) Earth.

Where am I?
