Greetings on this fine autumn day!
I hope you are all well.
The Barefoot Boogie this past weekend was fantastic. As a motely mix of all sorts of folk young and old grooved into the night and I interpretted alongside it comes to me how important these moments are. In a way dance like this becomes a beautiful rebellion. Many of you are aware that I spend about six or eight hours of my week in the Virgin Gym studio dancing. The studio is glass and looks out onto one of the weight training areas. Seeing a gal in her leotard, leg warmers and barefeet express herself in this environment is a strange thing to behold indeed. Often dance is my prayer, my opportunity to be in my body and with the spirit of life. In that studio, usually witness to Bodyslam classes, judo and Abs, Asses and the rest me lying on the floor for an hour and doing the ‘toe dance’ is unusual to say the least. I’d like to think however that everytime I spin about like a teenager in love, pretend to be at a sock hop or practice my belly dancing that I prove it is possible and therefore give permission for others to be free and in themselves. And it’s not that I don’t struggle sometimes. I must continue to do this for myself, because it is my journey also.
In the Virgin Studio, in the shops, in the street allow our spirits to dance! What holds us back is our fear of what people might think. And this is really a silly thing. We are so happy to do things in the name of ‘safety’ but really what about the safety and abundance of who we are and who we could be in the world?
And so I leave you with that, wish you many happy dances, look forward to the next Boogie here, there and everywhere.
In the meantime this is a reminder specifically for stateside folk that the In Liquid benefit is Thursday! If you are unable to attend, you can still bid for items online! Arts are that thing, that energy which allows us to see beyond ourselves, it is important to support these organizations in whatever way you are able.
And lastly there are still some prints available at the Merchant Gate Gallery in Glasgow from this weekend’s special exhibition, I would encourage you to get along and see them!

Blessings and love ,

Hello All!
As I sit here in my Glasgow office, wind whips up outside my windows, shaking the trees and reminding me of nature and change and shift in the natural world and in myself… it is an extraordinary thing, and just as so we can complain and compare on the extremes in weather, they are wonderful reminders as to how the inner world matches the outer and vice versa. For that, and for living in such a ‘dear green place’, I am so thankful.
This weekend marks the Fantastic Merchant City Festival here in Glasgow. I am fortunate to be represented not once, not twice by THREE times on this exciting occasion….
On Friday night I will be MCing the Barefoot Boogie at Sloan‘s. On this fabulous and fun occasion we are fortunate to have a DJ in from Holland and the fabulous stylings of Donna Rutherford at the turntables…. AND featuring Biodanza teacher Richard Golsworthy. Now I have been saving up my best dance moves (gathered over months of interpretative dance in the Virgin Gym Studios) so come and join us and have a wiggle!
Merchant Gate Gallery (111 Saltmarket, Glasgow, 0141 552 5847) has recently acquired a limited amount of my prints which will be on special display this weekend along artists from the King Street Studios. So have a wander down and perhaps purchase one for your very own!
AND lastly (and I hope to not see ANY of you here) I will be womaning the Red Cross First Aid Tent on Sunday.
So lots to do! I hope you have a magical weekend, no matter the activity!
Lots of Love

HELLO ONE AND ALL!
A loving greeting and happy September to you! In Glasgow I am mostly ‘recovered’ from my electrical shock (yes I really was electrocuted!) and gearing up for a most exciting autumn!
.
It is amazing how freak accidents in all their humour and pathos can create pause in one’s life. I have spent some time and still am processing what I can learn from this experience. Whilst in Peru studying with the Incas Willaru, the Inca Priest I was taught by, often referred to ‘shock’ as being something that would ‘get people on track’. It is not unusual to hear of people who turn their lives around after severe trauma. Heart attack survivors, car crash victims, survivors of wars and natural disasters- often these people have extraordinarily strong ‘change arounds’ in their lives. Willaru called that ‘unnatural shock’ – but sometimes we drive out bodies to such distraction that these things happen, to ‘wake us up’. Knowing this as I do, and did, and as I DO try and as I DO make a conscious decision to live ‘in spirit’ – ‘in my gifts’ as much as possible I am still curious to what I need to wake to. That’s my challenge I suppose. The thing is- I lived. And given the nature of the electrocution it is an absolute miracle. So I will continue to make a life in art, that connects to the spirit, that links people to themselves and their world, and perhaps learn something in the process.
.
In the following newsletter are highlights of the next couple of months in which I will continue to explore and celebrate these notions….
.
• Topping the list and very soon – I will be MCing the BAREFOOT BOOGIE here in Glasgow on the 21st. So leave your shoes behind and come have a wiggle!
.
• I have postponed my PHILADELPHIA/NEW YORK TOUR till the end of November not least because I can celebrate Thanksgiving in style AND my filming dates for ‘BULWARK’ have been moved up to the week of the 22nd of October which gives me the time and space to prepare.
.
• For all you Philly folk I have donated one of my prints to the artist support organization Inliquid’s annual silent auction event, “Benefit v.7.0,” which will take place on Thursday, September 27. Proceeds from the auction will benefit InLiquid and the Abigail Rebecca Cohen Foundation. Tickets are now on sale and you may purchase them prior to the benefit by clicking here.
.
• I will be exhibiting ‘43(two)’ at the Star and Shadow Cinema in the warm and vibrant city of Newcastle (England) 7 November and speaking on my work and theories…
.
• LATEST on ’THREADS’ is still in process, after some hiccups with the Super8 film (which is now being developed in Germany) the final cut will be available for viewing as part of the Dance House Creative Lab Showing on the 25 October before general screening release…..in the meantime I have included some of the comments on the live experience from audience members below!
.
• LASTLY the online shop has been COMPLETELY updated. Prints formerly exhibited are now only available via selected international galleries. In the meantime there are a LIMITED number of prints available for purchase for a limited time only.
.
Thank you for taking the time to be who you are and for sharing my world!
Lots of love
Kate E.
