Sunrise (Dancing for Everyone)

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

From 11-1-11 to 21-3-11, I will initiate a dance precisely at Sunrise that will be inspired by the wishes and hopes of others.

The start of this happening, the 11^th of January, is the former Hogmanay/New Year celebration date for the Scots (till 1660).  Up until that date there was a ritual termed ‘the Burning of the Clavie’ which has rumours of Norse/Pictish/Roman origins.

The 11^th of January 2011 also marks my eleven-year anniversary of living in Scotland!

Ergo, it seems entirely appropriate to begin my Sunrise Dance on this day!

The cycle will end on Spring Equinox, the 21^st March.  Lasting 72 days, it will be inspired by the wishes and hopes of others.  Individuals are invited to share (via email or in person) their hopes and wishes that I will dance for.

Other individuals are, as always, encouraged and welcomed to participate!  This can be in dancing, musically, photography, film, poetry, or dreaming….

A weekly schedule of locations will be posted on the deemingdreaming website (www.deemingdreaming.com) and daily video blogs posted to youtube.

This practice, I expect, will be a great challenge in ways imagined and not.  The physical task of dancing at sunrise for 72 days straight will require a new level of discipline and self-care for me.  In addition, the emotional and spiritual aspect of embodying other people’s hopes is a whole of level of commitment that I anticipate will have a profound impact personally and beyond.

The experiences I have had these past ten months (both at the Broomielaw and for Random Acts of Dancing) has deepened my commitment of service in the world.  I have witnessed such an extraordinarily positive impact that is- in every aspect – good.  Being true to myself, and connecting in the world, being joyful and loving…

This is the world I live in.
